About This Spot

Stepping into Crave Cafe feels like arriving at a cherished neighborhood spot where warmth and familiar comforts take center stage. Nestled quietly on Big Valley Drive, this modest café hums with the gentle rhythm of friendly chatter and the reassuring clatter of plates being dressed with care. The pace is unhurried, inviting both locals and visitors to pause, savor, and connect over genuine Southern home cooking prepared with thoughtful attention.

The interior echoes the simplicity and sincerity of a well-loved family diner—clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully kept. The staff’s easy friendliness creates a casual atmosphere that feels like more than just a meal; it’s a small moment of shared community. There’s a tender, almost nostalgic quality to the way dishes arrive, each plate promising the kind of comfort food that lingers long after the last bite.

Here, menu choices become a window into Southern culinary traditions without feeling forced or fancy. Imagine the satisfying crunch of perfectly fried okra alongside a generous, tender chicken and waffles pairing, all served up with sides that remind you of home—mashed potatoes rich enough to evoke grandmother’s kitchen, deviled eggs, and hushpuppies crisped fresh. Portions are hearty, paired with an honest price that respects both the food and the customer’s trust.

Crave Cafe is the kind of place that invites you back, whether it’s the consolation of a familiar plate after a long day or a new discovery in the quiet charm of Alexandria. It’s less about the spotlight and more about the simple joy of good food, good company, and a moment of ease in the ever-bustling pace of life.

First time eating here, friendly staff and good home cooked food feeling. Got the Country fried stake with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. It was as if Grandma made it at home. It's a nice little hidden gem. And the price wasn't bad at all for what you got.

Been in Alexandria all my life and let me just say I’ve never had food this good. I got the catfish plate with fried green tomatoes, okra, deviled eggs, and extra hushpuppies. Everything was fried to perfection and so fresh! The atmosphere is so welcoming & we will definitely be back again since it’s right down the street from our house lol!! 1000/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

First time eating there and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My dad and I ordered our food to-go and waited there. The staff was incredibly polite and friendly, chit chatting with us when they could. They were very accommodating if you wanted to change something in your order that wasn't expressly on the menu and even offered us a taste of a sauce/gravy from a dish we expressed interest in trying next time. I ordered the shrimp platter grilled with broccoli for the side. I admit I didn't have very high hopes on the broccoli, I was expecting the typical butter and salt on it you find at most restaurants. However the broccoli was very well seasoned with what maybe have been a cajun type season along with the shrimp which was grilled perfectly. It came with a couple hushpuppies that were also larger then normal and tasted delicious with the shrimp. My dad ordered the fried catfish with fries and coleslaw. He enjoyed the breading and seasoning of it as well. For two meals and one coke it was only about $25 so I find it was decently priced for a home cook style meal. I will be visiting in the future and sharing my recommendations for sure! I hope they thrive and stay!

First of all this is the cutest little place! So nice, clean and the BEST service! All of the food is phenomenal but if you want the absolute best chicken and waffles you have to eat here!! Never had waffles so good!!

Wonderful local diner full of potential. I gave the lunch special a shot with the Country Fried Steak, Mac n Cheese, Deviled Eggs and Fried Green Tomatoes. They give generous portions for $8.99. Additional sides are only $2.50 and they have slices of pie for $5. The steak was a good size and well breaded, mac n cheese was thick and creamy, and the tomatoes were perfectly fried. The deviled eggs contained relish and possibly celery, which provided a nice crunch that paired well with the firmness of the egg white. All the items I tried were well seasoned but they were just a tad too heavy with the salt. The staff is super friendly and the back of house cranks the food out quickly. All in all, this is a great spot for a quick bite. My only suggestion would be for them to update this Google listing with a current menu and maybe work on developing a larger online presence. People want to SEE all of the food you offer, so an old menu with the wrong prices listed, leaves a little to be desired

Lovely spot to enjoy lunch or dinner. The dining room is so relaxing and beautiful. The ladies are just lovely. Great service with sincere smiles and chats. Many tasty sides to pick from. The food is well done and presented beautifully. You feel like you are in a bistro in Europe! Great value too! I highly recommend!

We had chicken and waffles. Only problem is the syrup was too Sweet. I prefer maple syrup because it has the perfect balance. Overall great experience and will return
